Do professional photographs really make a difference?

Professional photographers seem to have to fight and explain why their profession is needed and why their skill sets make a difference within residential and commercial property industries. I often hear, ‘professional imagery doesn’t make a difference when trying to obtain a sale or rental of a property.’ But, in fact it does and quite a large difference at that; studies have proven it.

Evidence suggests that homes with high quality photography sell 32% faster than those with poor imagery. There has also been evidence to suggest that properties which showcase more images sell faster too, for example properties with 20 photographs online, spend an average of 32 days on the market.

A study of over 7000 Airbnb rentals in 2017 found that professional photographs generated an additional revenue of £1855.20 per year on average. Further studies have shown that excellent quality imagery can generate 24% more bookings, an increase in income up to 40%, and even allow owners to increase cost per night by 26%.

Regarding hotels and room bookings, evidence indicates that listings with excellent quality photos get 70% more clicks on online websites. On Booking.com for instance, there are now in excess of 2,302,526 posting from large chains like the Hilton down to privately owned B&Bs. Utilising expert photographers to produce excellent quality imagery can achieve up to 96% higher active visitor clicks than those with poor imagery. This ultimately shows that excellent imagery goes a long way to maximising your income, the more visitor clicks, the more chances for sale conversion.
